Warmth of Spring – a Jawbreaker Quilt

Spring is finally here! I don’t know about you, but I have been eager for the days when the sun doesn’t set until 7pm. Since the time changed, the evenings have felt so much more joyful, and this extra sunshine at night has been inspiring my creativity!

I think spring might just be my favorite season. The first warm day after the long winter makes all the cold and snow worth the frustration. The feeling of the warm sun on my face just cannot be beat!

Now that all the chatting is over, lets move on to what we’re all here for … the quilt!!

The Warmth of Spring Quilt is the Jawbreaker pattern by Then Came June. I discovered this quilt pattern late last summer, and I knew I had to make it.

The fabrics I used in this quilt were a combination of the first fabrics I had ever boughten myself and a new collection that I had eagerly wait months to receive. What fabrics am I talking about? The gorgeous Fableism woven fabrics! These are hands-down the best fabrics I have ever used.

I bought the Forest Forage fat quarter bundles (both color ways) in the spring of 2024 and kept safe in my sewing stuff until I had a project to make with them. I didn’t want to waste the fabrics on something that I wasn’t going to love lol. Then once I saw the Fableism Swedish Holiday collection available for pre-orders, I instantly purchased the FQ bundle!

The timing of starting this quilt was very poor because I began making this quilt at the end of my senior year of my Bachelor’s degree – a VERY stressful time! This resulted in taking two months to finish this quilt.

BUT it was worth the wait!!

I decided to have a daisy pantograph for the quilting of this quilt. It went very well with the daisy fabric throughout the quilt and added some needed “softness” to the quilt.

The binding on this quilt is hand-stitched, and I could not be more happy with that decision! I will probably be stitching all my binding by hand from now on!

After much thinking, I decided to name this quilt “Warmth of Spring” because the warm inviting purples, blues, yellows, and pinks scattered throughout the quilt remind me of spring – those days when there’s a hint of chill in the air but the sunshine feels so warm that it instantly warms you up.

I LOVE how this quilt turned out!!

Every time I finish a project, I am filled with and overwhelming amount of joy, gratefulness, and such a great love for the amazing God that we follow. I have no words to express the degree of gratefulness that I feel! He gave me the great gift of sewing and the amazing opportunity to share my passion with all of you!!

I cannot wait to share more and grow this amazing community that we are building over here! My mission is to glorify God, one stitch at a time. I would like to invite you to join the mission with me! Together, lets share the love of God through the amazing talents, gifts, and passions that God has given us!
